Road Smart Interactive
What is Road Smart Interactive?
Road Smart Interactive is an immersive road safety education program that uses the latest technology to engage students in thinking about how they can be part of the solution to eliminating road trauma.
Developed by the Victorian Transport Accident Commission and delivered in partnership with the Melbourne Museum, we’re excited to bring this program to Year 9 students in Western Australia.
Led by knowledgeable road safety facilitators, students work through six interactive digital experiences – each exploring a different area of road safety.
Insights into:
- How the human body would need to adapt to survive different speeds
- Adding features to road environments to make them safe for all road users
- Take a virtual reality road trip to uncover how Western Australia is working towards zero deaths on our roads
- Compete with their peers in a quiz about road user behaviour
- Design a safe car and performing a virtual crash test
- Explore road safety around the world using an interactive map
Road Smart Interactive is aligned to the WA curriculum and is delivered free to regional high schools in Western Australia.

Road Smart Interactive is targeted at students in Year 9 in regional WA.
The Road Smart Interactive team takes care of (almost) everything! All schools need to provide is a space for the program to be set up.
Our facilitators guide groups of up to 30 students through the 110-minute incursion. This allows students to deeply engage with the six stations and apply their learnings to the Community Task activity.
A shorter, 55-minute incursion is available if the recommended 110-minute session can’t be accommodated.
